Cor mio, non mori? | Wilderness festival | August 2018
Festival Voices returned to Wilderness to premiere a brand new collaboration, pairing the most sublime madrigals by 17th century musical genius Claudio Monteverdi with dance by graduates from the world-renowned Rambert and Laban dance schools.
Performed to theorbo accompaniment in the day’s twilight, the combined performers explored themes of love, anguish, sorrow and desire.
Session 25.11.17 | Ugly Duck | November 2017
An evening of collaboration, featuring works by Arvo Pärt, Frank Martin and Henry Purcell: our first FV Session.
Pärt’s Magnificat and The Woman with the Alabaster Box were illuminated by bespoke lighting design from Zoe Spurr, transforming aural colours into stunning visuals.
Martin’s Five Songs of Ariel were embodied by Paris-based mime artist Jason Ribes, who transformed the role of Shakespeare’s supernatural spirit into something rich and strange.
Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas was rescored with electronic music by producer and DJ Nico Bentley and the Pencil Collective.
We then danced til closing time, with a well-stocked bar, good company and great tunes.
Dido and Aeneas | Wilderness and Latitude festivals | July-August 2017
We collaborated with DJ/music producer Nico Bentley and the Pencil Collective to present Dido and Aeneas in a reimagined version, mixing Purcell’s iconic score with an injection of bespoke electronic dance music.
This brand new version of one of opera’s most famous works blurred the lines between classical and contemporary performance in exhilarating fashion. Featuring a live baroque ensemble, eleven vocalists and a dose of playfulness, this cross-genre collaboration challenged conventions and inspired the imagination.
